Why am I not experiencing forearm issues from pull-ups like others?
Hey everyone, Kurt here. I've been doing pull-ups and other bodyweight exercises for a while now as part of my wellness routine. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of people seem to develop forearm pain or issues from doing pull-ups, but I haven't experienced this myself.
For context, I've worked physical jobs in the past, so my grip strength was already pretty good when I started bodyweight fitness. That said, I know my strength is probably imbalanced since I don't do specific wrist or finger extensor work.
I've had some hand, thumb, and wrist discomfort from working out, but never actual forearm pain. It's interesting to me how some folks can be doing regular weighted pull-ups and suddenly wake up with nagging forearm issues. Meanwhile, I can spend all day gripping things, do weighted pull-ups, climb, etc. and at worst end up with tight wrists.
I feel like I'm constantly pushing the limits with my forearms, bordering on overtraining them, but not getting the same issues others report. Anyone else have similar experiences or insights on why this might be? Curious to hear your thoughts!
It could be due to your physical job background and existing grip strength. Everyone's body responds differently to exercises. Keep an eye on any discomfort and consider adding specific forearm exercises to maintain balance. Proper form and gradual progression are also key to preventing injuries.
