Need advice on scapula pull-up progression for low muscle tone

Hey everyone, I'm working on improving my upper body strength as part of my recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome. I'm following a recommended routine and trying to build up to scapula pull-ups, but I'm struggling with proper form and being able to hold the top position. Given my low muscle tone from being ill, I'm wondering if it would be helpful to use resistance bands to assist with the scapular retraction/depression movement until I build more strength? Or is there a better way to progress? I want to keep making progress but I'm also concerned about potential injury. Any advice from others who have dealt with similar challenges would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Resistance bands are a great idea for assistance. Start with the strongest band and gradually decrease resistance as you build strength. Focus on slow, controlled movements and proper form. Don't rush the progression - consistency is key. Consider adding in some supplementary exercises like wall slides and band pull-aparts.
