Concerned about quality of supplements from my usual supplier

I've been using NaturalWellness.com for years to order herbal supplements, and they've generally been reliable. However, the valerian root capsules I received in my last order seem off. When I take them at night, I'm having trouble falling asleep. I feel wired and my heart is racing, which is the opposite of valerian's usual calming effect. I'm a regular user of valerian and know how it should feel, so this reaction is concerning. I'm considering sending a sample for independent testing. I'd hate to think my trusted supplier is selling ineffective or contaminated products now. Has anyone else had a similar experience recently? I may need to find a new source if this continues.
