Natural remedies or prednisone for poison oak rash?

Namaste, wellness warriors! I had an unfortunate encounter with poison oak on my latest hiking adventure 13 days ago. The rash has been steadily spreading from my arms to my torso and legs. I've been applying my homemade calendula and aloe vera salve, as well as some triamcinolone cream the doctor prescribed. They also gave me a prescription for prednisone (tapering from 60mg to 20mg over 3 weeks), but I'm hesitant to start it. Yesterday, I reluctantly went to the ER where they gave me a cortisone shot and encouraged me to start the prednisone today. But I'm still unsure - even if the rash lasts another two weeks, is it worth taking such a strong medication just for faster relief? I generally prefer natural remedies and only take pharmaceuticals when absolutely necessary. I'm also concerned about the warnings I've read online about prednisone and alcohol interactions. I do enjoy the occasional organic wine with my kale salads! The rash is annoying but not severe - no breathing issues or anything alarming. Am I being foolish by avoiding the prednisone? Should I just continue with topical treatments and maybe try some herbal remedies? I'm planning to start a regimen of nettle tea and quercetin supplements today. Any advice from my fellow holistic health enthusiasts would be much appreciated! Wishing you all vibrant health and positive energy.
