Help! How do you avoid second-hand smoke in the city?
Hi everyone, Phyllis here. I've been trying to get healthier lately and one thing that really bothers me is all the second-hand cigarette smoke I encounter when walking around the city. It seems like every block there's someone smoking and I can't avoid breathing it in.
I know the health risks may be small from brief exposure, but I'm still concerned, especially since my mom had breast cancer and there's a history of smoking-related cancers in my family. I've tried a few things to reduce my exposure:
- Crossing the street to avoid smokers when I can
- Holding my breath when passing by someone smoking
- Wearing a KF94 mask in high-traffic areas
- Quickly moving away if someone lights up near me
Does anyone have other tips for avoiding second-hand smoke in an urban environment? I'd love to hear what's worked for others. I've even daydreamed about moving somewhere with stricter smoking laws, but that's not really practical. Looking forward to your suggestions!
Shocking amount of potassium in new juice drink - is this safe?
Ladies, I just saw a viral video about this new 'super hydration' juice from H-E-B that claims to have 4700mg of potassium in one bottle! I looked it up and it seems to be real. It's called 'H-E-B Organics Hydration Cold Pressed Juice' and has coconut, pineapple, banana, peach, and mango. But even with all those fruits, it should only have about 2500-3000mg naturally. Apparently H-E-B is adding extra potassium to boost it up. I'm no doctor, but that amount seems dangerous, especially for older folks or kids. Could this be a mistake on the label? Has anyone else tried this drink or know more about it? I'm all for getting my nutrients, but this seems excessive!
Looking for nutritious quick meal options - any recommendations?
Hi everyone! As a busy working mom trying to stay healthy, I often need to grab meals on-the-go when shuttling my kids to activities or running errands on weekends. I'm getting tired of the typical fast food choices and recently learned some 'healthier' options like Subway aren't actually that nutritious. Does anyone have suggestions for truly healthy quick-service restaurants or prepared meal options? I'm hoping to find some convenient choices that align with my wellness goals. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
