Pull-ups as a 75kg woman: Anyone else struggling? Tips for progressing safely?
Hi everyone, Natasha here. I've been working on my strength training for a while now, but I'm finding pull-ups to be really challenging at my current weight of 75kg (165 lbs). I can manage about 3-4 full range of motion pull-ups with good form, but improving beyond that has been tough.
I can do more chin-ups (around 6-7) and neutral grip pull-ups are a bit easier too. My goal is to build up to muscle-ups eventually, but progress has been slow.
When I've tried increasing volume or intensity, I've run into issues with my biceps, elbows or shoulders getting sore. Adding weight didn't work well either - I got up to 10kg extra but then had to stop due to elbow pain.
I'm curious to hear from other women around my size:
- Do you also find pull-ups extra hard at this weight?
- What rep ranges worked best for you? Low (3-5) or higher volume?
- How do you balance progressing with staying injury-free?
I'd love to hear any tips on variations, accessory exercises, or recovery techniques that have helped. Hoping to build up my pull-up strength while keeping my joints healthy!
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hey wellness friends! I'm looking to step up my bodyweight fitness game and would love recommendations for good overviews of calisthenics progressions. So far I've found the Hybrid Calisthenics Index which seems pretty solid. I also came across a Google Sheet with progressions but it's a bit confusing to follow.
I'm open to paid resources too - books, apps, websites, etc. My goal is to build strength systematically without gym equipment. What has worked well for you? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Hi wellness community,
I had a scary experience while learning to drive yesterday. I accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake and bumped into a road sign. Even though my instructor was very understanding, I've been extremely anxious about it ever since.
I'm finding it difficult to even sit in the driver's seat now without feeling panicked. At the same time, I want to face my fears and get my license soon, especially since my friends are all getting theirs. But the stress is really getting to me, even when I'm not in a car.
I'm wondering if anyone has gone through something similar or has advice for overcoming driving anxiety after a minor accident? How long does it typically take for these feelings to subside? Any calming techniques or positive affirmations that have helped you get back behind the wheel?
I'd really appreciate any insights or words of encouragement. Driving is such an important life skill and I don't want this setback to hold me back long-term. Thanks in advance for your support!
