Which so-called 'superfoods' are actually not that super?
Hi everyone, Joyce here. I've been thinking a lot lately about all the trendy health foods and supplements that get hyped up. It seems like every week there's some new superfood or miracle herb being promoted. But I'm starting to wonder how many of these are truly beneficial, or if some could even be harmful.
I recently read about comfrey tea, which used to be popular in health food stores but turned out to be quite dangerous. That got me wondering what other 'health' products might not live up to the hype or could potentially have downsides.
For example, I used to be really into quinoa and thought it was so much healthier than other grains. But after doing more research, I've realized there are plenty of other whole grains that are just as nutritious but way more affordable.
Do you know of any other trendy health foods or supplements that aren't all they're cracked up to be? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences as I try to make more informed choices about my diet and wellness routine. Thanks in advance for any insights!
As a busy mom of three juggling work and family, I've discovered the power of 'micro-moments' for managing daily stress. It's challenging to find large chunks of time for self-care, but I've learned that even tiny pauses can make a big difference.
I try to sneak in 1-2 minute breaks throughout my day to reset and recharge. It's not about elaborate routines, but simple acts of mindfulness.
My personal favorite? When I feel overwhelmed, I step away from whatever I'm doing, close my eyes, and take three slow, deep breaths, focusing on releasing tension with each exhale. It's quick, but so effective at breaking the stress cycle.
I'm curious about your go-to 'micro-moment' for stress relief. Do you:
• Do a quick stretch at your desk?
• Pause to sip some water mindfully?
• Listen to a calming song?
• Gaze out the window for a minute?
Share your tips - I'm always looking for new ways to find calm in the chaos of mom life!
Hi everyone! I came across the term 'pressed pills' in some health articles recently but I'm not totally sure what it means. 🤔 Does anyone here know and can explain it to me? I'm trying to learn more about different supplement forms and medication types to make informed choices for my wellness journey. Thanks in advance for any insights! 💊🙏
Hey everyone, I just started a new job at the health food store and they've scheduled me for the opening shift from 5-11am. As someone who's used to staying up late, I'm really struggling to adjust my sleep schedule. I have some natural melatonin supplements, but I'm not sure when I should be taking them to wake up on time without going to bed super early. Any tips for resetting my body clock? I want to stay healthy and energized for work but also have some evening time to unwind. TIA for any advice!
Hi everyone, I have my sleep study coming up soon to hopefully get some answers, but I'm wondering if anyone else experiences paralysis-like symptoms during the day? I don't think I have cataplexy, as it's not triggered by emotions. But throughout the day, I'll get episodes where my limbs feel weak and numb, making it hard to move. It's very similar to sleep paralysis, just while I'm awake and going about my day. The feeling can affect my legs, arms, or neck at different times.
I experience this from when I wake up until I go to sleep at night. It's quite disruptive to my daily activities. I'm curious if this could be related to narcolepsy or if it's something else entirely. Has anyone else dealt with daytime paralysis like this or heard of it as a symptom? I'd appreciate any insights as I try to figure out what's going on. Thanks in advance for any help!
