Hey everyone, Eric here. I've been struggling with stress and anxiety for the past few years, and I'm looking for some advice on how to get a handle on it.
Since finishing my MBA and going through some major life changes, my stress levels have been through the roof. Friends and family have commented that I seem really stressed out all the time. I get told to 'calm down' a lot, but I can't seem to turn it off. It's gotten to the point where the stress is causing physical symptoms like headaches, digestive issues, heart palpitations, and insomnia. I've had various medical tests done and everything has come back normal, but that almost makes it more frustrating.
I feel stuck in this cycle of health anxiety leading to more stress leading to more physical symptoms. With a big career change coming up, I'm worried things will only get worse.
I guess what I'm wondering is - is there a way to consciously manage stress and anxiety? Or is it mostly dependent on external factors? I'd love to hear from others who have been in similar situations and found ways to cope or reduce their stress levels. I'm open to lifestyle changes and new routines, but hoping to avoid medication if possible.
Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences you can share. I'm determined to get back to feeling like my old, carefree self again!
Have you tried mindfulness meditation? It's been a game-changer for me. Start with just 5-10 minutes a day using a guided app. Also, regular exercise and limiting caffeine/alcohol can make a big difference. Remember, it's a process, so be patient with yourself.
