Hi everyone! I recently started incorporating dead hangs into my wellness routine to help with my chronic back pain, and wow - the results have been amazing! I try to do them during my morning yoga sessions using my pull-up bar at home. Quick question though: As a shorter person (5'2"), is it still effective if my feet touch the ground a bit while hanging? Also, are there any similar exercises I can do without equipment? I've been trying cobra pose on my yoga mat, but it doesn't seem to give quite the same stretch. The dead hangs seem to release tension all along my spine and ribcage in a way nothing else has. Does anyone know what muscle groups or fascia this might be targeting? I'd love to find more exercises that give a similar full-body release. Thanks in advance for any tips!
Dead hangs are great for back pain! Even with feet touching, you'll still benefit. Try hanging from a sturdy table edge or doorframe for equipment-free options. The exercise targets your entire posterior chain, including lats and spinal erectors. Cat-cow poses can provide similar relief.
