Long-term medication use - Will I ever be able to stop?
I've been taking various medications for my mental health since 2015, including antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, and mood stabilizers. Currently I'm on a combination of Zoloft, Wellbutrin, and Lamictal. While the medications have helped stabilize my mood and reduce anxiety, I wonder if I'll ever be able to function without them. Has anyone successfully tapered off long-term psychiatric medications? I'm concerned about potential long-term side effects and would like to eventually be medication-free if possible. Any experiences or advice would be appreciated.
It's natural to have concerns about long-term medication use. While some people successfully taper off, others find ongoing treatment necessary. Discuss your goals with your psychiatrist to explore options and develop a plan that prioritizes your mental health and overall well-being.
