My twin (23) suddenly developed extreme high blood sugar and passed away within days. Seeking answers and support.
I'm still in shock over losing my twin sister so suddenly at age 23. She was always healthy and active, with no history of diabetes. But last week, she suddenly became very ill while away at college. Her glucose level spiked to 900 and she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, despite never having symptoms before. Things escalated quickly - she developed a lung infection, her kidneys failed, and she passed away within just a few days.
As her twin, I'm devastated and confused about how this could happen so fast. She was under a lot of stress from her studies, but otherwise seemed fine. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have insight into what may have gone wrong? I'm trying to understand but it's all so overwhelming. Any support or information would be deeply appreciated as I try to process this loss. Thank you for listening.
